Where we are
Currently, Modern Hair & Beauty is the licensed distributor of the Wella Company’s professional hair care products Wella Professionals Kadus Professional, Sebastian Professional, System Professional, Nioxin, and men’s grooming range, SEBMAN.
Other brands in our portfolio include popular Brazilian hair treatment Sweet Hair Professional, Reuzel – Holland’s finest pomades and barbering products, and Swish, our affordable in-salon care range.
Feels like Yesterday
On 1 December 2009, the company became wholly locally-owned when Chris Stofberg, General Manager at the time, led a management buyout. In 2015 the company was renamed Modern Hair & Beauty and expanded its portfolio to include professional skin care products.
Growing. Expanding
Over the years the company changed hands from its local owners to Wella AG in Germany, to Procter & Gamble who moved its retail business from Cape Town to Johannesburg. The move resulted in Cape Town-based Modern Hairdressing Supplies focusing entirely on the professional market.
The Journey begins
Modern Hairdressing Supplies (Pty) Ltd was established in South Africa during the 1950s as an importer and distributor of hair products. It owned the distribution rights to both Wella Professionals and Wella retail brands.

Dedicated professionals driving our success
Chris Stofberg
Managing Director
Chris began his career with the company as a Sales Consultant in Durban in 1991. In 1997, he moved to Cape Town to join the Marketing Department. In 2009, in the capacity of General Manager of the salon division, he led a management buyout from Procter & Gamble resulting in what is now Modern Hair & Beauty.
Chris is at his happiest in nature and on his mountain bike. He enjoys taking part in mountain bike events and completed the Cape Epic in 2018. He strongly believes in the principle that those who have the means should try to do something, however small it may be, to make the world a better place for all. In this light, the company supports community causes, particularly those within the immediate area of the company’s head office.
Sharafit Ayub
Finance & operations Director
When Sharafit visited the company as an Auditor between 2001-2003, little did she know that it would eventually become family!
In March 2004, she joined the Finance Department as a Cost Accountant and, after the company buyout from Procter & Gamble in 2009, became the Financial Director.
Sharafit has a lot of compassion for her fellow colleagues and is regarded as ‘the mother’ of the company.
She looks after both Finance and Operations.
Jacques Nortje
National Sales Manager
Jacques has 18 years of sales experience in the Medical Devices and Pharmaceutical industries. He has led numerous portfolios in the Coastal region of South Africa for the last 10 years.
His sales career began with Estee Lauder and later with Christian Dior SA.
Jacques combines leadership experience with a passion for people, customers, and business growth. He excels in building strong personal relationships, driving new business and constructing high-performance sales teams.
Jacques is a passionate cyclist who loves outdoor activities by the sea. What truly makes him happy is spending quality time with his wife and their lovely children.
Elizma Crous
National Education Manager
Elizma began working with the company in 2015 as an Retail Business Consultant looking after the Western Cape area. In 2017 she was involved with the launch of System Professional and in the same year she married the love of her life. She has a huge passion for training and development and her love for paperwork is endless. She is very enthusiastic person who loves to work with people, to inspire and motivate them.
Living a healthy lifestyle is very important to her but she believes that everything in life needs good balance.
In 2018 she became a new mother to a beautiful little boy, Janco. Her family means the world to her.
